Who We Are

The Rochester Area Democratic Club promotes the philosophy of the Democratic Party, and strives to help elect Democrats who support this philosophy. The group coordinates the activites of precinct delegates, candidates and all interested Democrats in the cities of:

Auburn Hills, Rochester, Lake Angelus, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township.

This organization is a non-profit with all of its assets pledged to educational, charitable, political, and community purposes.

All persons interested in advancing the principals and ideals of the Rochester Democratic Club are eligible for membership, whether they live in the club area or not. Annual dues, are currently $5.00 and are due September 30th each year, although they are accepted all year long. Many members support the group financially with a larger contribution to help defray expenses.

The club is chartered through both the Oakland County Democrats and the Michigan Democratic Party. It has a long and proud history of involvement in Democratic successes at all levels.

We have members who have been elected Delegates to the Democratic National Convention where candidates for President of the U.S.A. are selected.

We have members who are Officers-at-Large of the Michigan Democratic Party. We have members who have served on their city's Board of Canvassers where they help over see elections.

Members

Current membership includes candidates for the Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan Senate, and Michigan Supreme Court. Members currently holding elected office include State Board of Education, Michigan House of Representatives, County Commissioner, and City Council members.

In addition, the club works with the Michigan Blue Tiger Democrats who are dedicated to community service. The Blue Tiger Democrats support the idea a party is only as strong as its number of involved and dedicated members who believe in individual responsibility and demonstrate it by working in their communities.

The Rochester Area Democratic Club has shared this vision with several projects such as collecting food for the needy, providing phone cards for veterans, and supplying items needed at the John Dingle Veterans center.

Meetings
Our monthly meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of the month, starting at 7 P.M. (Please call and verify first). The meeting location is usually Miguel's Cantina, 870 Rochester Road, Rochester Hills [West side of Rochester Road a bit north of Avon Road].
Although the meeting starts at 7 pm, many Democrats gather at 6:30 pm in order to do some pre-meeting socializing and order their meals.

Two traditional meetings are the September Picnic, and the December Holiday Party. The September Picnic, where we renew our dues has been held at the Rochester Municipal Park for over fifteen years.

We are often joined by special guests such as State Party Chair, Mark Brewer, elected officials, like U.S. Senator Gary Peters, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabanow and candidates. Our December Holiday Party is often a holiday brunch the day of the Rochester Christmas Parade, so our elected Democrats can gather with us before the parade.
